The devastating wildfire that spread through parts of the Cairngorms has had a huge impact on wildlife, people and businesses in the Glenmore and Nethy Bridge area, in particular.
In this new edition of the Active Outdoors podcast, John Davidson speaks to Forestry and Land Scotland’s regional visitor services manager Paul Hibberd. For the last three weeks, Paul and his teams have been supporting the firefighting efforts and latterly preparing to open up access to Glenmore again.
Businesses there have lost weeks of trade at one of the most important times of year, so it’s vital that people return and support the area.
Glenmore is open again, with many of the trails and paths unaffected by the impacts of the fire. Paul explains where you can go, where it’s still not safe to go and how FLS is managing the reopening of this popular Highland beauty spot.
