John Davidson heads to Glenmore after the devastating wildfire and speaks to Paul Hibberd of Forestry and Land Scotland about how they are opening up the area in the aftermath

I’m a journalist in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland with a passion for the great outdoors – including walking, cycling and mountaineering.

In my day job I work for Highland News & Media as Content and Commercial Editor, working with the editorial teams across 14 weekly newspapers and associated websites and the HNM app, along with a number of editorial and commercial supplements and tourism publications. I am the editor of the John O’Groat Journal, Caithness Courier and Northern Times, covering Caithness and Sutherland.

I am also a qualified summer Mountain Leader and a member of the Mountain Training Association, and am working towards my British Cycling Trail Leader (Level 2) Award.

I have written two books of walking and cycling routes around the Highlands and have contributed to several magazines including The Great Outdoors and Scottish Walks & Cycling.
