Recovering from a busy weekend of ice climbing on Saturday and ‘snow shoeing’ on Sunday – both of which I was trying for the first time.

The ice climbing was fantastic, a real challenge and something a bit different from the usual winter mountaineering I am used to.

Wearing snow shoes was a bit of a revelation – they aren’t very popular in the UK but they really seem to help conserve energy when you would otherwise be wading through snow. I might return to a bit of this again!

You can read about both experiences in the Inverness Courier over the next month or so.

Meanwhile, I’m getting back to giving my arms and legs a wee bit of a rest before returning to the running this week!

  1. Our CTC bike ride on Sunday was somewhat easier I think. Nice one! (well two actually)
