Mini Orienteering
Culduthel Woods, Inverness (Culduthel Avenue entrance)
Saturday, May 25, 2019
10am-2pm
Join us for a fun day of family-friendly orienteering, suitable for absolute beginners of any age as well as the more experienced. All funds raised from the event go to Highland Cross, supporting charities across the north of Scotland.
Children navigate a simple course through the woods, finding checkpoints and stamping their map on the way around. It’s great fun and fingers crossed we’ll have glorious weather like we have had for the previous three years!
We are at the new venue of Culduthel Woods in Inverness this year, which will hopefully be easier for people to get to. We’re also getting some ‘real’ orienteering maps, punches and kites, courtesy of INVOC – Inverness Orienteering Club, and plan to set up two courses, a relatively short one for young children and something a little bit longer to test any older ones.
Entry costs £3 donation per entrant. Delicious home baking will also be on sale. Drop by any time between 10am and 2pm.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Limited parking available – please travel sustainably if possible.
Location
To reach the start, which is at the very small parking area to Culduthel Woods, head towards the Culduthel Christian Centre from the southern distributor road – you will pass the starting area and no doubt see us there. Please park considerately in the surrounding area if the car park is full or, if you live nearby, walk, scoot or cycle to the event! Thank you. We look forward to seeing you there.
