I think I might have found a new favourite pastime… trail running. Partly as a consequence of entering this year’s Highland Cross and partly inspired by Susie Allison’s book on Scottish Trail Running, I’ve been doing a lot more off-road running recently.
It’s so much nicer to be able to get onto great trails rather than just pounding pavements all the time.
This weekend I’m down in the Borders and last night enjoyed a superb 7-mile run using parts of the Borders Abbey Way and St Cuthbert’s Way. The beautiful sunset helped, with views in the photo to the Eildon hills and Peniel Heugh.
The rain is pouring down today but planning a longer run as part of my training and as it’s the penultimate day of the 5×50 Challenge.
