I’ve been out on the bike around South Loch Ness with the CTC Highland group today, taking in the historic Clava Cairns and a wonderful lunch at Daviot Dairy.
Our route took us from Inverness, up the hill to Essich and past Loch Ashie, around the edge of Loch Duntelchaig before crossing it by the fantastic road to Loch Ruthven (pictured).
We then went through Balnafoich to Daviot (stopping at the cafe for a well-earned meal) before continuing across the River Nairn and over the railway then dropping down left under the Culloden Viaduct.
We had a quick stop at the Clava Cairns and follwed the Sustrans route back into town before enjoying a nice ale at the Castle Tavern – all in all a successful day!
