I had booked a week off over the Easter holidays intending to do some decorating in the house, but when you live in a place like the Highlands it’s difficult not to be tempted outside…
\nHere’s a taster of what I got up to when I should have been painting (which I am now having to catch up with!):<\/p>\n

Cycling up Glen Tilt to climb Carn a' Chalamain from Blair Atholl<\/figcaption><\/figure>
\n
\nIt started with a trip to Blair Atholl with Peter to climb Carn a’ Chalamain, an easy Munro (if there is such a thing) down the stunning Glen Tilt.<\/p>\n

Next, I headed down to the Glenlivet Estate, near Tomintoul, for a nice walk up Carn Daimh on what turned out to be a beautiful, if chilly, outing. The views from the top were truly spectacular.<\/p>\n

My next adventure took me to remote Altnabreac on the Inverness to Wick\/Thurso railway line, where I did an off-road bike route of around 20 miles.<\/p>\n

Peter on the Forcan Ridge of The Saddle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I hooked up with Peter again and we headed down to Glen Shiel for what turned out to be quite a mountaineering expedition! The Forcan Ridge of The Saddle had fresh patchy snow on it which made it an even bigger challenge than it normally is, but a fantastic day out in one of my favourite parts of the Highlands.<\/p>\n

Finally, we had a family outing to Aviemore, from where we cycled to the Loch Garten osprey centre and back on a glorious sunny day.<\/p>\n
