The ‘Supermums’ were out on the Black Isle for a great little bike ride organised by CTC Highland’s Mick Heath today. The ride took us from Fortrose, along the old railway line to Avoch then into the Rosehaugh Estate for a picnic before returning by the same mostly traffic-free route.

A few of the children are getting to the point of riding their own bikes now and my eldest daughter Clara, who is four and has had her pedal bike for around a month, managed to cycle around four miles of the ride (with a little help from mum and dad!). It was a proud moment to see her ride so far and the poor thing was exhausted afterwards – but she’s already looking forward to her next ride!

To keep in touch with what the ‘Supermums’ (which includes us dads, too!) are up to, join the CTC Highland or Supermums group on Facebook.

Our rides are short, taken at the children’s pace and usually involve meeting at a playpark and finishing with a cafe stop – the perfect way to get the kids, as well as the mums and dads, into cycling.

  1. Hi John, thought you would be having a rest after our ‘epic’ ride!! Well done Clara, cycling all that way. Love from Grandad.
